Rookie NFL Debuts
Welcome to the NFL rookies. Surprisingly after the long lockout that lasted 127 days several rookies still received starting positions for week one of the NFL season. After having a shorten training camp these rookies not only played their way on the roster but also fought their way into starting jobs. Among the several rookies that played on opening day no other rookie had such a large impact on their team then quarterback Cam Newton. Drafted number one overall in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers, he played above expectations. Although the Panthers lost Newton threw for 422 yards, 2 touchdowns, and had a passer rating of 110.4. Von Miller was selected second overall in the 2010 draft by the Denver Broncos. A number of people criticized the Broncos for taking the young linebacker so early in the draft, but on Monday night Miller had a forced fumble and showed why he was picked. Patrick Peterson selected fifth overall in the draft by the Arizona Cardinals had an impressive debut. The young cornerback showed his versatility by playing cornerback and special teams as a punt returner. Peterson showed his athleticism by returning a punt 89 yards for a touchdown to help his team win. Rookie JJ Watt had a nice fumble recovery for his team the Houston Texans and help secure a win for his team for week one.
