Michael Vick's Return
After being drafted first overall in the 2001 NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick finally is making his return to the Atlanta dome as a starting quarterback for another team. Upon being drafted the young football player made history by being the first black quarterback ever selected first pick overall in the NFL draft. Michael Vick played for the Falcons for six seasons before and during that time was rewarded with a contract extension worth 130 million dollars making him the highest paid player at the time. Only to lose it all when, in April 2007 Vick pleaded guilty to be involved in illegal dogfighting and served 21 months in prison. After Vick was released he signed a contract with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009 as a back up to McNabb. After Donovan McNabb was sent to the Washington Redskins, young quarterback Kevin Kolb was appointed the starting position. Kolb's new position did not last long after going down with a concussion in the 2010 season opener against the Greenbay Packers. Michael Vick came out after halftime and turned the game around even though they lost 20 to 27. After Vick's performances he was awarded the starting job in Philly and then received the franchise tag, which was 16 million for one year. However, Michael Vick has recently signed a new deal awarding him 100 million dollars for a six year extension. Hopefully Vick can stay healthy throughout the year and have a great return to atlanta.
